Case studyRoamwiseMobile apps

An onboarding that makes safety feel calm, not scary.

Roamwise grades how safe a place is for you. Five onboarding screens had to earn trust, ask only what changes the grades, and end on something a traveller can use.

The brief

Safety apps usually open with fear.

Red alerts and crime maps make people anxious before they have seen anything useful. Roamwise wanted the opposite: a calm first minute that still takes safety seriously.

02 / 03
The approach

Editorial calm, one question per screen.

A quiet editorial type system, warm neutrals and a single action on every screen. Each answer visibly reshapes the grades, so every question feels worth answering.

03 / 03
The result

End on a grade, not on 'you're all set'.

Onboarding closes on a personal letter grade for the traveller's next destination, so the app proves its value before the home screen loads.
